Klerkur frá Kirkjulandi
(aka
"Bob the Stallion" - he's big, he's black, and he has HUGE dreadlocks!)
Klerkur is a horse with wonderful temperament
who has over 70 offspring in Iceland and Europe. He was born in 1997 and is 14hh
with excellent bone, a real weight-carrying Icelandic without being over-heavy
or clumsy. In fact Klerkur has 8.28 for conformation. He is five gaited, and all
his gaits are clear. His action is naturally high though not over-exaggerated,
and he has lots of speed and power which is always controllable. He chooses
either trot or tölt in the field.
 
He is friendly without being
pushy, and it´s easy to forget he´s a stallion as he is so well-behaved. He
spends the winter with our herd of entire males and geldings, and enjoys playing
with "the boys". He is a gentleman with his mares and enjoys playing with foals.
Klerkur´s father is Fafnir frá
Fagranesi, who has 8.28 for conformation and 8.40 for rideability, with a total
of 8.34. Fafnir has nearly 700 offspring including many excellent competition
and breeding horses. Klerkur´s mother Klén from Kleifum was a good second prize
mare with 7.72 overall. Klerkur himself has 7.92 overall - his mark for
rideability was rather low (7.68) as he injured a hind foot stepping on a nail
not long before he was judged and he was not 100% sound at the time. He´s fine
now and has not suffered any further problems from it. His mark for conformation
is 8.28 - the highest of any stallion in the
UK so far. Klerkur is known for passing on his excellent conformation to his
offspring.
To ride, he´s very easy and
reliable. He has very fast pace and clear trot, and his tölt is easy even for
beginners to find. He is happy to be ridden alone or in groups, and is excellent
to take a hand horse from - even an in-season mare - as he understands that when
he´s under saddle he cannot think with his balls!

Klerkur´s offspring are
renowned for being big and beautiful with easy tölt, excellent conformation and
superb temperament.
Klerkur is, in our opinion, the ideal sire
for Icelandic horses in the UK.
We will accept mares for covering by
Klerkur in the Spring of 2010. All mares must be swabbed and healthy. The cost
will be Ł350 per mare, plus Ł2 per day keep. Please
